What's the Church About Anyways?

Church, a place to gather with people to worship God; to share one another's
burdens; to encourage one another; to learn about Jesus; to get together for
good potlucks; to worship. We all go to church for different reasons, and
probably more than one reason. Having been raised in church all my life, my
reasons have changed over the years.

When I was young I wanted to be with my friends, a very good reason. Then in my twenties I wanted a place where I was accepted after making foolish mistakes. In my thirties I wanted a place
to take my children to learn about Jesus. The list goes on.

Now I see church in a new light a place to gather with friends to celebrate
Jesus. There is a new freedom I have found in letting the expression of my
love for Jesus to flow in new ways including singing, dancing, painting,
drawing, and even on my knees in abandoned love for Him.

As I went through the transition from religion to a personal relationship
with Jesus, He led me to a church in Albuquerque called New Life City. Here
I learned to experience God instead of seeing Him as some Holy Being in
Heaven that I would meet one day. An encounter with a living God brings
healing to the mind, body and soul. He has brought amazing people into my
life that care about who I am, who God made me to be, and to see me fulfill
my destiny purpose. I am finding new freedoms to receive the promises God
makes to those who love Him and come to Him no matter what they have done in
their lives. I have found the very thing I have sought for that I did not
find in my twenties when I so deeply needed it. ACCEPTANCE. I am loved for
who I am by people that I can love for who they are.

I like a place where I can be myself and not feel the need to put on a mask
to be accepted. That is what I have found at NLC. I found New Life.Church, a place to gather with people to worship God; to share one another's
